Marching orders

It’s mid-March and I’m considering it a win that I didn’t wait until April 1 to write and backtrack a post for the first time in a while.

What can I say about recent weeks? 2026 is really kicking my ass so far. Between sickness in the family (and myself), work being incredibly busy, and finances being extra tight – it’s not really going too great.

Now, revisiting the positive, because there’s been some of that too.

  • I was a guest on my friend Jenna’s podcast recently, and will share the link to that once it becomes live.
  • I attended a session with the HVGB Writers’ Group at the library which was really fun. I’ll post a photo from the session that was led by Mavis < Hello, Mavis! 🙂 >
  • I received my first ever royalties cheque from my book, Cotton Gloves and Rusted Anchors. NOW it’s real.
  • I was given a 5-Year Service Award for my time working with NCC

And because we celebrate the little things here, I also:

  • Finished an awesome book and do reccomend it; Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy
  • Completed my first Monthly R.E.P.O.R.T on Instagram
  • Have really enjoyed colouring in the evenings, and decorated a special box to hold all of my markers
  • Got a number of nice pieces of clothing from Thriftys so far this month (I always shop second-hand first!)

As usual, I’ll end this off with some photos that capture my month so far. Be back soon.

Love,
M.
