little January

We’re a little over half way through the month, and I’m in a particularly good mood today because it’s sunny. A sunny Sunday.

There’s been some shifts in my life these last few weeks. I am no longer working in the communications field. Shortly before Christmas break, I put in my resignation and decided on a new path. This wasn’t easy.

At 38 (my birthday was last week) it feels like a huge gamble to give up on any type of familiarity, whether it’s good or bad, and move towards something else. But when my gut tells me something, I know to trust it. Except when it comes to saying it’s hungry, I have to retrain that little gut elf to not speak as loudly.

I won’t yet talk about my new position until I’m past my probationary period, but I will say that it is very exciting work that really means something to me. It reaches back to my core values. And in the words of my therapist, every step you take should work towards those goals somehow.

I also removed myself from Facebook. Because of my former job, and because it was the only way to keep up with some family, I’ve had Facebook for years. It gradually became a place populated with ads, hate, and sucked up so much of my time that I had to get rid of it. The change is noticeable.

We also adopted a cat, meet Bruce!

He was born in September 2023, which means he’s a fiesty little ball of energy still, and as I type he is quite literally bouncing off the walls – he’s playing with the sunlight as it swoops up and down the wall with the shaking of the curtains he’s also after.

Here’s some snaps of life in 2024 so far. Hope you’re having a good time, and if not, may your troubles pass quickly.
